Year 10 – A day at the beach

Sorry for the lack of posts recently but my wedding combined with the honeymoon means I have been off the radar for a while.

So first week back after the Easter break I took the year 10 artists on a drawing and photography trip to Brighton. The theme of the current unit of work is Sense of Place, so the pupils were trying to capture the sense of Brighton in their drawings and photographs. Before the trip I had introduced them to a range of travel illustrators and to the work of Martin Parr.

I think the pupils enjoyed the day and most gathered a good range of sketches and photographs (despite the classic English rain). When I see them next they will be presenting the best of their images in their sketchbooks. They will also be using them to produce some screen, lino and mono prints over the coming weeks.
