‘The Basics’ Photography Scheme of Work and Lessons

The basics Powerpoints page

This term I have spent working thorough the basis of using the DSLR camera. Hopefully this should give my GCSE Photography class a solid understanding of the basics, such as shutter speed, aperture, ISOs, composition etc, before they undertake more project/theme based work later this term.

I have uploaded all of my lesson Powerpoints to DropBox, click the link below to access these:

  1. First of all, thank you for all your amazing resources, as an NQT+1 being put in charge of a photography course next year these are so helpful!
Secondly, would you be able to share with me your lesson PowerPoints for this SOW as the link takes me to your website but I can’t seem to find them!
    Many thanks

    • Hi and many thanks for stopping by and leaving your kind words! Of course re the Powerpoints for The Basics intro project, I have emailed you a link via Dropbox as the folder is rather too big for email. Any issues do let me know! Pippa

      • is there any chance you’d be willing to share this with me also please? Your resources are fantastic, thank you for all that you share!

  2. Thank you for sharing your great resources, they are so helpful 🙂 Would I also be able to be able to get a copy of these resources please? Thank you so much!

  3. Hi there, I’m also new to photography and find myself teaching GCSE students with not much in place … we’re already a few weeks in and I’ve had to run with what I’ve been given.. your first half term SOW looks excellent but I can’t squeeze it all in … any suggestions which would be most useful for students . I have 5 hr long lessons over 2 wks … they have a basic knowledge and can turn camera on , point and shoot, adjust so, print photos etc
Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge

    • Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I would suggest that you spend some time on composition/formal elements/what makes an effective photo. If you don’t have time for the technical stuff (aperture, shutter speed, iso etc) at present I would recommend building this in later in the year if you have access to DSLR cameras.
